WEB DESIGN FOR MORE PAWS COLLECTION WEBSITE. (2023)

More Paws is a collection website prototype made in Adobe XD that gives information on 20 of the most popular dog breeds. This website is catered to the uninformed public who want practical knowledge on common American dog breeds. The design of this website is meant to be playful while keeping a clean, mature undertone.

→ Deliverables: Adobe XD, site mapping, site layout, creative strategy, design, and pitch.

  1. RESEARCH

To begin developing this prototype website, I had to recognize what the goal was, but more importantly, who was the audience.

Determining the audience meant being inquisitive with my own network of people. I developed a list of questions to ask my friends, family, and peers in order to get a grasp on how the average person viewed dogs. I developed personas that embodied the commonalities between these people and their relationships with dogs.

2. PERSONAS

With the data gathered, I developed personas that embodied the commonalities between these people and their relationships with dogs. I came up with 3 personas that would frame how the information of the site was presented to the user.

The biggest commonalities between the personas seemed to be unfamiliarity with dogs, aversion to “dangerous” breeds, and overall, a distaste in the responsibility of caring for a dog.

3. WIREFRAMES

I began gathering layout ideas for the collection and experimented with how the layout would look. The aesthetics and navigation of the collection was just as important as the goal to inform the public. An unappealing website or navigation would’ve led to more user frustration as most personas already we’re disinterested in dogs.

This would prove to be a challenge to make the site informing and professional but also satisfying to navigate through.

4. PROTOTYPE

After a careful process of developing the prototype in Adobe XD, it was time for user testing. Overall, most users averaged viewing 3 to 4 dog pages on their first viewing of the prototype. This allowed users to gain quick, digestible information on dog breeds they may have already been somewhat familiar with or had interest in before but no resources to streamline the information to them specifically.
